TCD VIsioning 2026

It’s been a busy spring semester which included some milestones – the photo is from the recent Conference/Summit at UF from 22-27 February hosted by the Tropical Conservation and Development Program and the Center for Latin American Studies (learn more here). Other notable happenings included Marlyn Zuluaga successfully completing her PhD qualifying exams, and submitting her first chapter to Biotropica; Dr. Robin Botero-Arias beginning a new position working on caiman and turtle conservation based in Manaus Brazil; Rick Stanley advancing on analyzing palmchat data and writing his dissertation; Akshay completing field work for his PhD and working on a revision of his first dissertation chapter for publication; and Bette Loiselle contributing to two new publications (Earth Stewardship, Ecography – see “publications” for full details). In addition, Robin’s work as part of the IUCN Crocodilian Specialist group just published an update on the IUCN Red List status for the black caiman, Melanosuchus niger (see here).
