Dr. Farah Carrasco finished her PhD in Interdisciplinary Ecology (SNRE) in December 2018.  After wrapping up several of her publications, she joined the Field Museum staff in Chicago as Coordinator of the Putumayo Biological and Cultural Corridor, in the Andes Amazon Program of the Keller Science Action Center at the Museum.  There she works with UF alumna Dr. Diana (Tita) Alvira, the Andes-Amazon Senior Program Manager. In addition, Farah will join the mammal team in November 2019 on a binational effort between Peru and Colombia to conduct a Social and Biological Rapid Inventory in the Lower Putamayo.

Continuing on efforts began while at UF, Farah is also part of the Organizing Committee for the Meeting of Women in Conservation of Latin America and the Caribbean, which is planned for October 2019 as part of the Protected Areas Congress activities in Lima. This effort involves a number of alums and graduate students at UF; they have held similar meetings in Florida, Argentina, Ecuador, and elsewhere with >100 participants from more than 11 countries.
